Even editors and proofreaders (or those of us who like to think we’re good at those skills) need an editor and proofreader! That second pair of eyes can save your reputation by spotting a misplaced word, misspelling, or awkward sentence structure. Job seekers who’ve developed a kick-butt resume but forgot to correct a misspelled word or two may just as well kiss that new job good-bye. Kathie York is your go-to proofreader. She is unafraid to give her opinion, corrects your errors without hesitation, and will help wordsmith your documents into a product you can be proud of.
Most people don’t know Kathie York has a master’s in project management. She takes those skills into every project. I was one of the developers on a software effort where she was the technical writer. After some problems up front, Kathie was pulled in as the new PM. She went beyond that to perform our final testing. Client acceptance went quickly, because Kathie found the bugs and confusing stuff ahead of time. It’s great to have her in your corner.
– SharePoint developer
As a book publisher for business professionals and niche experts, I work with a lot of clients who have an important message to share but don’t always have the skills to communicate it as effectively as they hope. Kathie York is my favorite go-to editor for their books – and my own content work. Kathie has a great eye for detail and a knack for improving overall readership. Her editor’s notes and suggestions are spot-on and I value her input greatly. She’s also extremely willing to learn and/or research as needed to do the job right. I highly recommend her as a content editor.
– Publisher/Marketing Expert
I like that Kathie will take on minor projects. I’m publishing a book and she is editing the blogs that will be part of it. She didn’t have an issue with me having my own proofreader. I appreciate that. Most companies want it all or they say ‘No.’ Kathie’s comments are easy to understand and are constructive. She encourages me with positive notes when she finds something interesting. I’m not used to that from an editor!
I attended an overview session covering four of these modules. The information was easy to understand. I haven’t seen an instructor laugh and have fun with a class, before! I don’t like writing, but this was painless and gave me some good ideas.
– Sales Executive
This course is so needed. Most people won’t even look for it until they make a big writing or printing mistake. My advice: work through it now and come back to it when you need to. This is a good ‘how to’ anyone can understand and the lessons are about problems I run into.
In my line of work, I can always use down-to-earth ideas when it comes to making my writing better. I’m pretty good at this, but this course still gave me a lot of ‘Ah, hah’ moments. Enjoyed it.
– Executive Assistant
The lessons are short, which means I can fit them into my schedule. I don’t mind writing, but it makes me nervous when I have to do it for other people. This course hit right where I needed it.
