[QW33] Tell someone about your goal

by | Mar 3, 2026

When I was considering a special edition Volkswagen Rabbit, I was amazed at how many special edition Volkswagen Rabbits were suddenly on the road! 😎

Of course, there weren’t more cars out there.
It’s just that I was paying more attention to that model.

And thinking about buying one. And whether or not I could afford it.
And … and ….

That’s how it works with goals, too.
When we consider one, we begin seeking solutions for reaching it.

Let’s use that to your advantage.

[QW33] Tell someone about your goal

Our brains tend to ‘work on’ what we call to the forefront of our thoughts.

Suppose we’re researching or asking questions about something (the ‘Rabbit,’ in my case) and talking about it with friends (“There’s this special edition ….”).

Our brain pushes aside some clutter and tells itself, “This is what we’re paying attention to, now.”

What are you thinking about, goals-wise?

If it’s a longstanding objective, I bet it comes up frequently in conversations.
And you think about it often.

To reach a target, it’s a good idea to take a friend along with you.
Select someone who will bolster you when you hit a tough spot in the journey.
Telling someone also makes you accountable for making a Yes/No decision.

But before bringing your friend on board …

… check a few is-it-worth-the-effort basics.

Assuming this is something you have control over,

  • Is it your goal? Or is someone else pushing you into it?
(We’ve all heard the “But you’d be so GOOD at this!!”)
  • Is it practical for you at this stage of your life?
  • Does it follow your “Yes” or “No” rules for taking on a project?

As you consider these points, let me offer you a resource to help as you explore.

My free 5 Essentials to Crushing Your Resolutions instant-download e-Booklet works any time of year. It’s short, easy to use, and it helps you answer the question:

“How can I know if this is the right goal … for right now?”

Here are five steps I take when considering a project. (I think you’ll be surprised!)

You could be on your way to goals success in a few minutes!

I’ve included resources to help you non-overwhelm goals, and a printable checklist of the 5 Essentials. I keep it handy. (Mainly because #5 is the most difficult for me 😎 )

Check it out!

Here’s wishing you well as you work through your “Yes or No?” questions for a new goal. I use my 5 Essentials booklet regularly, and I hope it helps you, too.
