Now, granted, my title carries a big promise.
But here’s a great way to de-stress tomorrow morning.
For everything you can prepare tonight?
Prepare it tonight!
Yup! This is such a game-changer I had to pass it on to you.
Your little ones will need help, but for the adults and older kids in your home, here’sÂ
My two-step checklist to make it happen
STEP 1. Clothing, shoes, socks, etc. are selected and put aside the night before.
a. Don’t forget underwear!
b. Ensure everything fits and is in good repair. NO fixing in the morning.
STEP 2. Designate a grab-and-go spot(s) as close to your egress door as possible. Items that leave the next day spend the night there.Â
a. Wallet and/or purse*
b. Key(s)
c. Portfolio or book bag*
d. A note to grab your lunch sack or lunch money 😊
e. Etc.
* Plus necessary contents
We lay a little whiteboard in our grab-and-go spot when we’ll be gone for an extended period. It reminds us to set the HVAC to ‘away’ and pop our water bottles into the car.
This gets easier!
If you’re a parent, check the grab-and-go spot(s) the night before (especially for kids with homework or permission slips). The process may take a few days to run smoothly, so be ready for that.
But once it’s working, stand firm. No ‘going back’ because something was missed. It’s a great way to teach about consequences without nagging. For example, my mom was good at this. I became a vveerryy quick learner about the ‘no going back’ concept when it came to lunch money. 😎Â
