“Don’t get caught with your soc med down!”

by | Jan 7, 2025

Hey there, and Happy New Year!

Let’s begin 2025 by protecting you from some heartache if you post content on social media.

Schedule months ahead? Suh-weet!

When I acquired my Customer Relationship Management software (CRM), I was thrilled to have a robot keep track o’ the calendar and launch my posts at the right time. 😎

But I didn’t know …

Many programs auto-detach from our schedulers every couple of months. If we don’t reconnect after we’re dropped, our content to that platform isn’t going anywhere.

If you’ve been ‘dumped,’ how do you reconnect?

Go to the area in your CRM where your soc med accounts are listed. Follow the guidelines to reactivate an account.

Note: You may need to log onto the account and jump through a few other hoops. Add peace and calm to the job by setting aside 15 minutes to get it done.

Now, find your next cut off day

Example: you find you have 23 days until LinkedIn disengages. You want to avoid LI, that day (from your CRM). But what day?

  1. Have an online date calculator find the date 23 days from now.
  2. Eliminate that date, ‘X’ing it out on your planning calendar.*
  3. Note (in that block) the program you’re avoiding that day.

* I mean one of those huge paper jobbies with big blocks to write in. You can flip back and forth between the months, getting the big picture in your mind. This is a great time of year to try it. It has made a big difference for me.

Disconnect days are not created equal

The detachment is only for that particular program. For example, if your LinkedIn date is on the 15th, but Facebook’s is not, you can schedule Facebook for that day.

One last thought …

I keep an eye on my numbers. They can change quickly.  Every time I’m in my CRM, I check the days remaining for each account. You may want to get into that habit, too.

‘Cause I don’t want either of us to get caught with our soc med down! 😉
