By the time we near the end of Q1 each year, many people are not ‘happy campers.’
In my line of work, I usually find that’s because they have not progressed as far on a project(s) as they’d hoped and think they’re a failure. They’ve talked themselves into adopting what psychologist Dr. Daniel Amen calls A.N.T.s – automatic negative thoughts. (You’ll find more information about Daniel at the end of this post.)
Sometimes, we don’t reach an objective as quickly as we’d planned. But … a failure?
I’ll show you how a family medicine specialist, Dr. Aaron Beck, worked through automatic negative thoughts with a patient.
In a brief video, Dr. Beck demonstrates how easy it is to blow things out of proportion (I’ll fess up: guilty, sometimes). Watch him non-overwhelm the negative thoughts in fewer than 6 minutes.
You’re gonna love how gentle he is with the whole thing, too.
OK, I need your help, here
The first rule of blogging is to give your reader helpful information.
The second rule is never to send your reader away from your post.
Hopefully, I’m keeping the first rule. Buuuut, to do that, I need to break the second one.
Please come back and start the conversation after watching the short message ( <6 minutes) from Dr. Beck.

Here is Dr. Beck’s brief talk during a workshop
I hope you enjoyed this short talk from Aaron Beck. I was amazed at how calm and logical he was with the patient. Let’s all follow his example to non-overwhelm our automatic negative thoughts.
And while we’re at it, let’s set a goal to dump them for good!
Thanks for stopping by. I hope this article helps you non-overwhelm the ‘daily’ where we get bent out of shape and need to rethink our responses. (Yeah … I’m talkin’ to myself here!)

Thanks for spending part of your day with me. I know you’re busy, and I appreciate your time. If you’d like more information about Dr. Daniel Amen’s theory on A.N.T.s (mentioned at the start of this article), I suggest starting with this video on YouTube:
Change Automatic Negative Thoughts (ANTs) – Daniel Amen, M.D.
I don’t agree with everything Dr. Amen says, but there is a lot of good info here.
Here’s wishing you a great rest of your week, and I’ll see you next time,
