How’d it go with your ‘Word of the Year’?

by | Nov 1, 2024

If you joined me in selecting a ‘Word of the Year’ … something to add peace and calm to 2024 … how’d it go for you?

My word was simplify. I focused on ‘at home,’ since my book covers work and life issues. There were some fails mixed in with the successes but overall, the ‘wins’ made it worth the effort.

Three examples:

  • We added a whole-house air cleaner to our HVAC system. Healthier home, plus fewer dusting sessions. Now if I can just get rid of horizontal surfaces, I’ll be good. HA! 😎
    .
  • I tried speeding up the hard-boiled eggs process. Didn’t go well. But another kitchen experiment was successful: I can now make/freeze/store my breakfast quiches faster.
    .
  • Everyone in the household did a better job of slipping on ‘outdoor shoes’ for those quick jaunts to the mailbox. Instant cleaner house.

Howzabout next year?

Do you have a word for 2025?

Mine is gratitude. In general, I’m a grateful person, but next year I’ll focus on my gripes.

Can I fix this one? That one? If not, I’ll work hard to leave ’em behind.

They’re from the “It’s not the perfect way to do it” trap. Sound familiar? Yeah. Thought so.

Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas

There’s a lot going on at year’s end. One way I non-overwhelm it is by decorating minimally and pulling December off the blog post calendar. What can you not do 😊 to help end ’24 on a more peaceful note? It may be a shock at first, but it will be worth it.

For those in the States, I wish you a blessed Thanksgiving on the 28th. For anyone worldwide celebrating Christ’s birth, “Merry Christmas!” on December 25th.

Thank you!

Thank you for your faithfulness this year. I appreciate you and promise to bring you valuable non-overwhelm tips in 2025. Without you, what’s the point? I welcome your support.

To that end:

If there’s an angst or goals situation you’d like me to address, please shoot me a quick email by December 15. We can talk about it in January, but please let me know the gist of your idea so I can ‘pencil it in.’ I’m creating new posts, and I have room to focus on a few readers’ issues.

I’ll see you back here in January, but you’ll still find me on social media and LinkedIn.
You know me: I non-overwhelmed all of that by working ahead.
😉
